As a long standing Turntable specialist we can service any deck, that still has parts available, and supply most makes of arm and cartridge. We have a large range of stylus in stock and the back up of two of the world’s top stylus suppliers, so even most old carts can have new stylus fitted. As the new wave of Vinyl enthusiasts include DJ’s we can also recommend and fit modifications to Technics DJ turntables to make them sound a huge amount better. No Vinyl enthusiast will be turned away without help, if we can’t help we certainly will know a man that can, any questions please email them to us or call 0131 556 7901 or pop into the Haddington Place store.

Turntable tips:

  1. Always set the tracking weight towards the higher end of the range
  2. Make sure the pick-up cartridge is set up properly (Hifi Corner can do this for you)
  3. If the quality of the turntable isn't the highest you can afford the resultant quality out of the system won't be satisfactory-rubbish in rubbish out.
  4. Small midi size turntables don't sound as good as full size models
  5. Don't site your turntable close to your speakers.
  6. On expensive systems the turntable lid alters the sound
  7. If you can afford it, make sure you have a a great pick-up arm
  8. Generally the more expensive turntables have 'floating suspension' it is critical this is set to the 'correct bounce'. Hifi Corner have some great bouncers! :)
  9. If the turntable comes with a record clamp -use it. This is recognised as making an audible improvement!
